ABS pump and control module Subaru Forester

In the Subaru Forester, the hydraulic unit with control module decides when and how much to reduce the pressure in the brakes of individual wheels. We sell a used, working unit in good condition.

Numbers to compare

  • 27536SC012 - part number (OEM)
  • 0 265 230 201 / 0265230201 - ABS pump number (Bosch)
  • 0 265 950 924 / 0265950924 - ABS control module number (Bosch)

Application according to the listing

  • Subaru Forester - model
  • Bosch - manufacturer

How an ABS pump with control module works

The hydraulic unit contains solenoid valves and a return pump motor. When the control module detects a wheel locking, the valves briefly reduce the pressure in its circuit and the pump returns the fluid, so the driver keeps control of the car's path.

Matching

For this model we offer several pumps with different numbers. The number on the label decides, not the model name alone. Car versions differ in, among other things, ESP, brake type and engine. Compare the numbers with your pump or with the vehicle documents.

Symptoms of a faulty ABS pump

  • the ABS warning light comes on straight after starting the engine,
  • the diagnostic tester cannot connect to the module,
  • the speedometer shows incorrect readings,
  • the system works only intermittently.

Inspect the control module connector: corrosion or burnt contacts cause symptoms similar to faulty electronics.

Questions and answers

Is the part new?
The pump is used, but in working order. You will find its condition in the product features.
Does the brake fluid need replacing after the pump is fitted?
The system has to be bled after the pump is replaced anyway, so it is a good moment to check the fluid and replace it if it is old.
Where can I find the number on the module?
You will usually find the numbers on the label or housing of the module, visible after removing it from the car. If you cannot read them, send us a photo.

Not sure? Send a photo of your module to contact@auto24parts.com - we will check it for you.

  • How to Check the Operation of a Transmission Control Module - Symptoms

A faulty transmission control module (TCM) most often causes limp mode with the gearbox stuck in one gear, harsh jolts when you select D or R, erratic gear changes, flashing PRND letters and a gearbox or engine warning light. However, the same symptoms are often caused by a low gearbox oil level, a weak battery, a poor earth or a faulty sensor. To test a transmission control module, start by checking the battery and reading the fault codes with a diagnostic tool that can talk to the gearbox control unit, then check the power supply, the connector, the oil and the live data. Below we explain the symptoms, the diagnostic steps and what the most common fault codes mean.
