Returns, Warranty Claims and Shipping Damage
Auto24Parts supplies tested automotive electronic parts for passenger cars, vans and commercial vehicles. Our range includes replacement engine control units, complete ABS hydraulic assemblies, transmission controllers, instrument clusters, vehicle modules and accelerator components.
Customers looking for a tested replacement ECU can browse dedicated categories for Peugeot engine control units, Opel ECUs, Alfa Romeo engine computers, Lancia engine controllers, Jaguar ECU modules and Mazda ECM and ECU units.
Use the buttons below to go directly to the section that matches your case.
Before sending a product back: contact Auto24Parts and include your order number, complete product reference, a description of the issue, diagnostic fault codes and photographs where available. This helps us identify whether the case concerns a return, a technical complaint or transport damage.
Tested Automotive Electronics and Technical Preparation
Products are checked before dispatch according to the type of component and the available testing procedure. For selected controllers, this may include communication checks, data reading, connector inspection and verification of the housing, part numbers and identification labels.
A used engine control unit may require coding, immobiliser adaptation, VIN programming or data transfer before it can operate correctly in another vehicle. This applies to many OEM replacement controllers, including a replacement Peugeot ECU, an Opel engine computer or a Mazda ECM control module.
Some units are supplied as standard replacement controllers, while others can be prepared as Virgin, IMMO OFF, Plug & Play, automatically programming or cloned ECUs. The available method depends on the exact hardware, software and immobiliser system.
Because automotive electronics can require coding, calibration or synchronisation after installation, a diagnostic warning does not always mean that the supplied part is defective. Before opening a complaint, the workshop should verify the power supply, wiring, CAN communication, coding and related vehicle systems.
↩ Returns
Eligible consumers may withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of receiving the product, subject to the applicable legal rules and the condition of the returned item.
| Return requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Return period | 14 days from delivery for an eligible consumer withdrawal |
| Product condition | The product should be complete and must not be damaged or handled beyond what is necessary to inspect it |
| Housing security seal | The seal protecting the housing should remain intact |
| Return shipment | The customer normally covers the direct cost of sending the product back |
Connector Seal and Housing Security Seal
Engine ECUs, ABS control modules, BCM, BSI and TCU units may carry two different seals:
- Connector seal – this may be broken when the part is connected to the vehicle. It confirms that the unit has been installed or tested, but does not automatically cancel the warranty.
- Housing security seal – this protects the controller against opening, disassembly and unauthorised internal modification. Damage to this seal may affect a return or commercial warranty claim.
Returning an ECU After Installation
A replacement engine computer may record vehicle-specific information during installation. This can occur with an Alfa Romeo ECU module, a Lancia engine controller or a Jaguar engine management unit. A returned controller may therefore require memory cleaning, removal of immobiliser data or additional diagnostic verification.
Where a restoration service is necessary and legally applicable, the standard service cost may be 50 EUR. The exact treatment of the return depends on the condition of the product and the applicable consumer rules.
IMMO OFF, Virgin preparation, cloning, VIN programming, coding and vehicle-specific configuration are performed for a particular order. The service portion may be subject to separate withdrawal and refund rules where the applicable legal conditions are met.

A refund is normally processed using the original payment method. Before placing another order, customers can also review the store’s payment, delivery and product-selection information.
🛠 Commercial Warranty
Auto24Parts provides a written commercial warranty for products sold through the store. Unless another period is stated in the product offer, used parts are covered for 6 months.
| Product type | Commercial warranty period |
|---|---|
| Used automotive electronic parts | 6 months, unless stated otherwise |
| New parts | 12 months or the manufacturer’s period shown in the offer |
The commercial warranty concerns faults caused by the product itself. It does not replace or reduce statutory consumer rights.
What Is Checked Before Dispatch?
- manufacturer and OEM reference comparison;
- inspection of the housing, sockets, pins and labels;
- communication or data-reading checks where technically possible;
- verification of the selected preparation service;
- final order and product control before packaging.
Warranty verification may also depend on the type of product. A BMW ABS pump and control module, a Jeep ABS hydraulic unit or a Fiat ABS pump assembly may require correct hydraulic bleeding, coding, calibration or sensor learning after installation.
Likewise, an ECU for Peugeot, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Jaguar or Mazda may require immobiliser adaptation or programming unless it has been prepared as a compatible Plug & Play unit.
🛠 Complaints & Warranty Claims
If a purchased product does not operate correctly, contact Auto24Parts before returning it. A complete technical description helps us distinguish a product fault from an installation, coding or vehicle-system problem.
Information Required for a Technical Claim
- order number;
- complete product and manufacturer numbers;
- vehicle make, model, engine and year;
- all diagnostic fault codes;
- description of the vehicle symptoms;
- information about coding, programming or adaptation;
- photographs of the unit, connectors and installation;
- confirmation that the part was installed by a qualified workshop.
Complaint Procedure
- Contact Auto24Parts and describe the issue.
- Provide diagnostic information and photographs.
- Wait for return instructions before sending the product.
- Return the complete unit to Auto24Parts.
- Our technicians inspect the part and perform communication or functional checks where possible.
- A third-party workshop report may support the case, but final verification is carried out after the product arrives at Auto24Parts.
- If the fault is confirmed, the unit may be repaired or replaced with a compatible product.
- If repair or replacement is not possible, another remedy may be offered according to the applicable rules.
ABS Pump and Hydraulic Unit Complaints
For an ABS complaint, send all numbers from the electronic module, pump motor and hydraulic block. This is especially important for Chrysler ABS pump modules, SsangYong ABS hydraulic units and Jeep, BMW or Fiat ABS systems, where similar-looking units may use different coding or valve configurations.
When May a Commercial Warranty Claim Be Rejected?
- The housing has been opened or disassembled.
- The housing security seal has been damaged or removed.
- Unauthorised repair, soldering or software modification has been carried out.
- The unit was damaged through incorrect installation or polarity.
- There is evidence of water, fire, impact or mechanical damage.
- The fault was caused by wiring, voltage supply, CAN communication or another vehicle system.
- The product number, serial number or identification label has been removed or altered.
A part should not be considered defective only because the vehicle requires coding, calibration, immobiliser synchronisation, brake bleeding or another model-specific installation procedure.
