How do you match ABS pump 8E0614111B to your car?

The simplest way is by the numbers: VAG 8E0 614 111 B and Bosch 0 265 220 405 on the hydraulic block. This is a genuine, used and working Bosch assembly with control module, offered for Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda cars.

Go to full description

ABS assembly 8E0614111B with Bosch control module 0 273 004 283

During normal driving, this assembly stays on standby and does not intervene in braking. When the driver brakes hard and a wheel starts to lock, the control module partly closes the relevant valves in the block, reducing the pressure in that circuit. The pump motor restores it straight afterwards, so the wheel keeps turning and the car remains steerable.

Bosch and VAG numbers of this assembly

  • 8E0614111B - VAG number of the ABS pump (hydraulic unit), stamped: 8E0 614 111 B
  • 0265220405 - Bosch number of the hydraulic block (pump), stamped: 0 265 220 405
  • 0273004283 - Bosch number of the control module, on the label: 0 273 004 283

The pump numbers are stamped into the aluminium block and are partly worn - good lighting will help when comparing. Next to the numbers are the line port symbols (HZ1, HZ2, VL, VR, HL, HR), and the control module number is on the label on its housing. Because we have eight other versions of this pump in the shop, check the suffix B especially carefully.

How to recognise an ABS pump failure

A faulty assembly is most often given away by:

  • the ABS warning light coming on together with the ESP light,
  • ABS inactive during emergency braking,
  • a pump fault read with a diagnostic tool.

First read the fault memory and check whether the culprit is a wheel speed sensor, a fuse, a wire, a plug or low battery voltage. After fitting, bleeding the brakes is essential, and on many VW Group cars so is coding the control module.

Questions and answers - 8E0614111B

Which car is this pump for?
We offer it for Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda cars. The fit is confirmed by the numbers on the block and the control module, not by the make alone.
Is the part in working order and covered by a warranty?
Yes, it is a used, working genuine part. You will find the warranty period in the product features table.
Is coding needed after the replacement?
On many VW Group cars the control module is coded with a diagnostic tool - it is worth planning this with the workshop.
Does the brake system need bleeding?
Yes, the brake system must be bled after every ABS assembly installation.

If the number on your block is hard to read, send us a photo of it or your VIN - we will try to help.

  • How to Check the Operation of a Transmission Control Module - Symptoms

A faulty transmission control module (TCM) most often causes limp mode with the gearbox stuck in one gear, harsh jolts when you select D or R, erratic gear changes, flashing PRND letters and a gearbox or engine warning light. However, the same symptoms are often caused by a low gearbox oil level, a weak battery, a poor earth or a faulty sensor. To test a transmission control module, start by checking the battery and reading the fault codes with a diagnostic tool that can talk to the gearbox control unit, then check the power supply, the connector, the oil and the live data. Below we explain the symptoms, the diagnostic steps and what the most common fault codes mean.
