Virtually all car manufacturers have for many years been fitting electronic devices optimising the engine operation. As a matter of fact, these are specialised computers, also called injection controllers or control units. Why is it worthwhile to have such an element fitted in? The basic purpose of using them is to achieve the possibly best combustion, i.e. the most effective fuel consumption.
New and used engine control units. An ECU (Engine Control Unit) is a device that manages the entire performance of a given machine’s engine based on the data stored in the computer’s memory. If the control unit is functional everything runs smoothly; problems start, however, when something begins to go wrong with the controller itself. It is generally claimed that if an ECU fails we should immediately replace it with a new one because it is impossible to repair the old one. Yet, there are people who are experts on control units and know that some parts, even if they have already been used, can still be fit for further use. Anyone who has a problem with a control unit in their car and wants to replace it with a new one must also deliberate what to do with the old gear.
More and more cars are equipped with an automatic gearbox. However, in order for this device to operate well, it is necessary that it has a functional controller because it is the most important element of the entire unit without which the automatic gearbox will not be able to function correctly. Obviously, the same principle applies to the traditional, manual gearboxes.
Safe and fully comfortable moving around in your own car without any bigger or smaller disturbances in the operation of the drive unit is the main expectation of every car owner. Of course, apart from a fully functional engine, all other systems that are found in our cars are very important, too, and they have a great impact on the way we will be able to move in it.
The braking system that is found in every car is without a doubt the most important system affecting the full safety of using a motor vehicle. As the name of this element itself suggest, the system serves the purpose of braking and slowing down or stopping the vehicle. The currently operated vehicles use mainly hydraulic brakes, and depending on their mode of operation we can distinguish a mechanism of momentary action that is suited to work in a short period of time with very high efficiency. Its primary task is to efficiently delay the movement of the vehicle in an emergency.
One of the most common reasons of gearbox failure is defective computer in the form of the gearbox controller. This element takes the form of a hydraulic switchboard with various sorts of valves, levers or bearings, all affecting the more or less reliable operation of the gearbox. The gearbox controller is therefore one of the most important elements of this component that is present in every motor vehicle. Its function is to control the transmission and feed it with oil under the correct pressure. The gearbox transmits power from the engine and thus affects the speed of the vehicle.
