How do you match ABS pump 6R0614517AL to your car?

Start with the number engraved in the aluminium block – here it is 6R0 614 517 AL – and then take a look at the control module, which is marked 6R0 907 379 BA. We are offering a used, working Bosch assembly intended for Audi and Volkswagen cars; if your numbers are identical, you have found the right part.

Go to full description

Bosch hydraulic unit 6R0614517AL with module 6R0907379BA

During hard braking, module 6R0 907 379 BA continuously monitors the signals from the wheel speed sensors. When it detects that a wheel is starting to lock, it switches the valves in the block and briefly lowers the pressure in that wheel's circuit. The motor of pump 6R0614517AL then builds the pressure back up, and the cycle repeats until the skid stops. Meanwhile, the driver can still steer and avoid an obstacle.

Markings on this unit

  • 6R0614517AL – VAG number of the ABS pump (hydraulic unit), engraved in the aluminium block: 6R0 614 517 AL
  • 0265242335 – Bosch number of the hydraulic block (pump), printed in white on the black plastic cover of the control module: 0 265 242 335
  • 6R0907379BA – VAG number of the ABS/ESP control module, on the control module label: 6R0 907 379 BA
  • 0265956084 – Bosch number of the control module, laser-marked on the control module housing: 0 265 956 084
  • 2265106508 – Bosch number laser-marked on the side of the control module housing: 2 265 106 508 – its role is not described

You can read the VAG pump number directly from the metal of the block, while the Bosch number of the hydraulics is printed in white on the black cover of the module. The same Bosch control module, 0 265 956 084, also appears in our shop with pump 6R0614517BN, so the number on the block decides which listing is the right one. We also have other 6R0 614 517 variants with a different letter – compare the whole reference, including the suffix AL.

When should you suspect the ABS assembly?

The most common signs of a fault in the pump or its electronics are:

  • the ABS warning light coming on together with the ESP lamp,
  • ABS that does not engage during braking,
  • a pump fault stored in the control module.

Before you remove the old part, read the fault codes with a diagnostic tool and rule out the wheel speed sensors, fuses, the wiring and plug, and low battery voltage. After the replacement, the brake system has to be bled, and on cars with ESP the basic setting of the steering angle sensor and the ESP sensors is usually carried out as well.

Frequently asked questions about 6R0614517AL

Which cars is this assembly intended for?
For Audi and Volkswagen cars. We do not specify a particular model – the fit is confirmed by identical pump and control module numbers.
What condition is the part in, and where can I find warranty information?
This is a genuine Bosch assembly, used and in working order. The warranty period is given in the product features table.
Which number should I start comparing with?
The key one is the VAG number on the block, 6R0 614 517 AL, together with the letters at the end. The control module number and the Bosch markings help to confirm compatibility.
Does the module need coding after fitting?
On many VW Group cars, yes – the ABS/ESP control module is coded with a diagnostic tool. Plan this together with bleeding the brakes.

Send us a photo of the block and the control module label, or your VIN, and we will check whether this assembly matches your car.

The automatic transmission control unit (often designated as TCU or TCM) is a crucial electronic component responsible for smooth and trouble-free gear shifting. Its failure, most often caused by overheating, short circuits, or water damage, results in jerking, an inability to shift gears, or the vehicle entering limp mode. Purchasing a new module at an authorized dealership is a massive expense, which is why replacing it with a fully functional, used original is the most reasonable solution.
