ABS pump 8K0614517BP – how can you tell it is the right part?

Check four numbers: 8K0 614 517 BP, 0 265 236 098, 8K0 907 379 AA and 0 265 950 958. We offer a used, working Bosch assembly for Audi cars; the match depends on these markings agreeing, not on the car model.

Go to full description

Bosch ABS assembly: block 8K0614517BP and module 8K0907379AA

While you brake, the electronic module keeps comparing the rotational speeds of the wheels. When one of them slows down more sharply than the others, the control module switches the valves in the hydraulic block and briefly reduces the pressure in that wheel's circuit. The pump motor restores it straight away, so the wheel does not lock and the driver can keep steering the vehicle. All of these parts – the block, motor, valves and the bolted-on control module – form a single assembly, which is what this listing offers.

The numbers on this assembly and what they mean

  • 8K0614517BP – VAG number of the ABS pump (hydraulic unit): 8K0 614 517 BP – the ending BP on the block is worn away and illegible; the full number comes from the product data
  • 0265236098 – Bosch number of the hydraulic block (pump): 0 265 236 098
  • 8K0907379AA – VAG number of the ABS/ESP control module: 8K0 907 379 AA
  • 0265950958 – Bosch number of the control module: 0 265 950 958

The pump marking is engraved or stamped into the aluminium block, and on the module cover you will find a Bosch production sticker; a large ‘ESP’ marking is also visible on the block. Because the worn ending of the block does not let you confirm the final letters of the number, compare the rest of the marking and write to us. The shop has 35 other versions of this part number, so a match on the start of the number alone is not enough.

When can the ABS assembly be the cause of trouble?

The signs that most often draw attention are:

  • ABS and ESP/ASR switched off at the same time,
  • a valve fault stored in the memory,
  • a warning light that comes on right after the engine is started.

Before replacing it, read the fault codes with a diagnostic tool and rule out the wheel speed sensors, fuses, the wiring harness with its plug, and low battery voltage. After fitting, bleed the brakes; on many VW Group cars the control module also has to be coded, and with ESP the steering angle sensor is usually calibrated.

Questions about the assembly with pump 8K0614517BP

Which car does this assembly fit?
Audi. We do not give a specific model – the fit is confirmed by comparing the pump and control module numbers.
What condition is the part in, and what about the warranty?
It is a genuine Bosch assembly, used and in working order. The warranty period is given in the product features table.
Which number matters most when matching?
The starting point is the VAG pump number 8K0 614 517 BP. The control module number 8K0 907 379 AA and the Bosch numbers serve to confirm your choice.
Does the control module need coding?
On many VW Group cars it does – after replacement the module is coded with a diagnostic tool. Check this for your vehicle before fitting.

Send us a photograph of the block and the sticker on the module, or your VIN, and we will help you decide whether this assembly is the right one.

  • Where to buy a used automatic transmission control unit? Complete guide

The automatic transmission control unit (often designated as TCU or TCM) is a crucial electronic component responsible for smooth and trouble-free gear shifting. Its failure, most often caused by overheating, short circuits, or water damage, results in jerking, an inability to shift gears, or the vehicle entering limp mode. Purchasing a new module at an authorized dealership is a massive expense, which is why replacing it with a fully functional, used original is the most reasonable solution.
