VW number and manufacturer number – how to read a Skoda ECU label
A Skoda ECU label usually carries two numbers. The first is the part number in the Volkswagen Group numbering, e.g. 03G 906 021 LD. The second comes from the module manufacturer: Bosch (0 281… for diesel engines, 0 261… for petrol engines), Siemens or Continental (5WP… numbers), Magneti Marelli (61600… numbers and IAW codes) or Delphi. Older Felicias may also carry Skoda numbers written as 441.0.4046-…. The letter at the end of the VW number identifies a specific version – 03G906021LD and 03G906021TB are different units, so always compare the full number.

Locked or unlocked?
The units in this category are available locked or unlocked. A locked unit still holds the data and immobiliser of the previous car – the choice for a workshop that will program and adapt it itself. An unlocked unit is prepared by us before dispatch. The details are on the ECU preparation options page.
Before you buy an ECU
A no-start, no communication with the diagnostic tester or limp mode can point to a faulty ECU, but a weak battery, a corroded earth, a damaged wiring loom or moisture in a connector cause the same symptoms. Rule these out before you buy.
Questions and answers
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Which number matters most when choosing? | Compare the VW number including the letter at the end, and the module manufacturer number. A matching model and engine size alone is not enough. |
| Can an ECU from a Volkswagen or SEAT fit a Skoda? | It can, if the numbers on the label are the same. If in doubt, ask us before you buy. |
| Will the ECU work straight after fitting? | A locked unit has to be programmed and adapted to the immobiliser. For an unlocked unit it depends on the preparation method, which we agree with you before purchase. |
| What warranty do the ECUs have? | The warranty period is listed in the specifications of each product. |
