ABS pump 6R0614517BN – how do you check it is the right part?

Find the number 6R0 614 517 BN engraved in the aluminium block and compare the control module label with the marking 6R0 907 379 BK. This used, working Bosch assembly is intended for Audi and fits when both references match.

Go to full description

Pump 6R0614517BN and module 6R0907379BK / 6R0907379BA – Bosch, Audi

When a wheel loses grip during braking and starts to lock up, the control module recognises this from the speed sensor signal. In response, it switches the valves and reduces the pressure in that circuit, while pump 6R0614517BN pumps the fluid back, restoring the braking force. The wheel turns again, so the car can be steered even with the pedal pressed all the way down.

Numbers: block, cover and control module label

  • 6R0614517BN – VAG number of the ABS pump (hydraulic unit), engraved in the aluminium block: 6R0 614 517 BN
  • 0265244096 – Bosch number of the hydraulic block (pump), printed in white on the black plastic cover of the control module: 0 265 244 096
  • 6R0907379BK – VAG number of the ABS/ESP control module, on the control module label: 6R0 907 379 BK
  • 6R0907379BA – second VAG number on the control module label: 6R0 907 379 BA
  • 0265956084 – Bosch number of the control module, laser-marked on the control module housing: 0 265 956 084
  • 2265106508 – Bosch number laser-marked on the side of the control module housing: 2 265 106 508 (role not described)

On the block, next to the VAG number, you will find the port markings HZ1, HZ2, VL, VR, HL and HR; the other numbers are on the black cover and the control module label. The module label gives two VAG numbers – 6R0 907 379 BK and 6R0 907 379 BA – and we also have Bosch control module 0 265 956 084 in the shop with pump 6R0614517AL. So it is the number on the block that tells the versions apart.

Warning signs from the ABS system

A fault in the assembly is most often given away by:

  • ABS and ESP/ASR switching off together,
  • a stored valve fault,
  • the ABS warning light on from the moment the engine starts.

First read the faults with a diagnostic tool and check the wheel speed sensors, fuses, wiring and plug, and the battery voltage. After fitting pump 6R0614517BN, bleed the system and, if necessary, code the control module and carry out the basic setting of the steering angle sensor and the ESP sensors.

Buyers' questions about 6R0614517BN

Will this assembly fit my Audi?
It will if the numbers on your pump and control module are the same. We do not confirm the car model – matching is done by the markings only.
What condition is the pump in, and what is the warranty?
This is a genuine, used and working Bosch assembly. The warranty period is given in the product features table.
Will a pump with a suffix other than BN be suitable?
It may or may not – a different letter may indicate a different version of the system. Before you decide on a different suffix, check the numbers with us.
How can I confirm the fit before buying?
Send us photos of the number on the block, the cover and the control module label, or your VIN – we will compare them with this listing.

Already have photos of your part? Send them to us along with your VIN, and we will tell you whether this unit is the right one.

  • Where to buy a used automatic transmission control unit? Complete guide

The automatic transmission control unit (often designated as TCU or TCM) is a crucial electronic component responsible for smooth and trouble-free gear shifting. Purchasing a new module at an authorized dealership is a massive expense, which is why replacing it with a fully functional, used original is the most reasonable solution.
