Searching for ABS pump 5N0614109AM?

This is a used TRW unit in working order, removed from an Audi together with its control module. It fits wherever number 5N0 614 109 AM and the TRW numbers on the label are the same.

Go to full description

5N0614109AM - TRW ABS hydraulic unit with numbers 54085768L and 17618859

The electronics of this unit constantly receive pulses from the sensors at the wheels. When the readings show that one wheel is losing grip under braking, the module switches the valves in the block of pump 5N0614109AM and briefly lowers the pressure there, which the pump then builds back up. Without correct sensor signals, the control module cannot carry out this regulation. That is why, whenever there is a fault, it is always worth starting by checking the sensors and their wiring.

Numbers visible on the unit

  • 5N0614109AM - VAG number of the ABS pump (hydraulic unit), written 5N0 614 109 AM
  • 54085768L - TRW number from the unit label: 54085768L
  • 17618859 - TRW number from the unit label: 17618859

The dot-punched markings on the block are illegible and partly covered by a watermark; the motor has a small barcode sticker, and the port labels HZ1, HZ2, VL, VR, HL, HR can be seen next to the connections. The numbers for comparison come from the unit label. As the shop has 10 versions with a different ending, compare the letters AM.

When unit 5N0614109AM may be faulty

A damaged pump or module is suspected when there is:

  • an ABS module with no connection to the diagnostic tool,
  • a lit ABS warning light,
  • a stored pump motor fault.

The first step is to read the fault memory and check the wheel speed sensor, fuse, wiring with connector and battery voltage. After fitting the unit, bleed the brakes; on VAG cars the module is usually coded, and the ESP system most often requires sensor calibration.

Questions about hydraulic unit 5N0614109AM

Which car does this part fit?
An Audi equipped with a unit numbered 5N0 614 109 AM and carrying the same TRW numbers. We do not give the model.
Does the unit work properly?
Yes, it is a used, working and genuine TRW component. The warranty period is given in the product features table.
What do TRW numbers 54085768L and 17618859 mean?
They are the manufacturer's numbers shown on the unit label. The label does not specify their role, so we do not assign them to either the pump or the control module - they are for additional comparison.
And if my number ends in a different letter?
Then take care - a different suffix may mean a different version of the system; it is best to choose the variant ending in AM.

Take a photo of the label on the unit fitted to your car or copy down your VIN, and we will check whether this pump will do.

  • How to Check the Operation of a Transmission Control Module - Symptoms

A faulty transmission control module (TCM) most often causes limp mode with the gearbox stuck in one gear, harsh jolts when you select D or R, erratic gear changes, flashing PRND letters and a gearbox or engine warning light. However, the same symptoms are often caused by a low gearbox oil level, a weak battery, a poor earth or a faulty sensor. To test a transmission control module, start by checking the battery and reading the fault codes with a diagnostic tool that can talk to the gearbox control unit, then check the power supply, the connector, the oil and the live data. Below we explain the symptoms, the diagnostic steps and what the most common fault codes mean.
