How can I check whether ignition module 443907397C fits my vehicle?

Compare the numbers on the casing of your module: VW number 443907397C and Bosch number 0227400134 (printed as 0 227 400 134). The ignition module on offer, from a Volkswagen or Audi with a petrol engine, is used and in working order.

Go to full description

Ignition module Volkswagen, Audi Bosch 443907397C 0227400134

This is not an engine control unit but a Bosch ignition module used in petrol Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. Module 443907397C is involved in generating the spark: based on the control signal, it switches the current in the ignition coil circuit on and off. When it fails, the engine may not start or may run unevenly. Unlike an engine ECU, the module does not need programming, but choosing the right one is still based on the numbers on the casing.

Numbers on the casing

  • 443907397C – Volkswagen / Audi part number
  • 0227400134 – Bosch number, on the label 0 227 400 134

The letter C at the end of the VW number identifies the module version. When replacing it, it is best to stick to the identical number 443907397C, as other versions may differ.

Symptoms of a faulty ignition module

  • the petrol engine turns over but will not start because there is no spark,
  • intermittent running and misfires,
  • the engine cutting out once warm,
  • difficult starting that comes and goes.

Before replacing the module, check the spark plugs, HT leads, ignition coil, and the module's power supply and earth. A faulty sensor that sends the signal to the ignition system can also cause similar symptoms, so it is worth carrying out a diagnosis.

General information on ECU options can be found on the ECU preparation options page.

  • How to Check the Operation of a Transmission Control Module - Symptoms

A faulty transmission control module (TCM) most often causes limp mode with the gearbox stuck in one gear, harsh jolts when you select D or R, erratic gear changes, flashing PRND letters and a gearbox or engine warning light. However, the same symptoms are often caused by a low gearbox oil level, a weak battery, a poor earth or a faulty sensor. To test a transmission control module, start by checking the battery and reading the fault codes with a diagnostic tool that can talk to the gearbox control unit, then check the power supply, the connector, the oil and the live data. Below we explain the symptoms, the diagnostic steps and what the most common fault codes mean.
