What is the task of the ABS controller?
One of the tasks of the ABS controller is to accurately calculate the speed of the rotating wheels by taking into account the signals that reach it from the rotational speed sensors. It also supervises the operation of the return pump, detects all breaks that appear and occur in the circuits controlling the solenoid valves, determines the reference speed or wheel slip, and measures the speed of rotation of the road wheels. In addition, it is to watch for errors that occur in measurements as a result of external interference, or examines the period of possible activation of individual solenoid valves of the hydraulic system. If there is a possibility of losing traction or locking the wheels, the controller is to send the appropriate signal, which results in the operation of the draining pump and the solenoid valve of the wheels. The ABS controller is also a regulator, which, taking into account the given situation, is to ensure the optimal value of the pressure that occurs in the hydraulic brake system of our car.
How to determine damage to the ABS controller?
How will we be able to determine that it was the ABS controller that was damaged?
- When the ABS indicator goes off after the ignition is turned on again
- When the engine is cold, the phenomenon of damaged ABS does not occur
- Alternately lit ABS lights
- Lack of proper communication with the ABS controller
- If we notice that such a fault occurs especially after the car has warmed up
The ABS controller even manages the entire system, its operation starts as soon as we decide to turn the key in the station car. Therefore, there are not isolated cases when its damage causes the inability to use ABS, and this, as we all know, is quite a strong impediment. It is therefore recommended to restore the efficiency of the ABS by replacing such a controller, which will affect the comfort of driving and our safety, especially when braking or performing various manoeuvres, i.e. when the ABS is to react properly.
ABS PUMP MODULE
Probably every car owner is perfectly aware of how important it is nowadays to have a fully functional ABS system. The main role of this system, which can be found in virtually every modern car these days, is obviously to increase the safety of the vehicle user. In short, its main task is to prevent the wheels from locking up upon vehement braking of the vehicle. The application of this kind of solution option makes it possible to achieve greater control of the vehicle allowing steering it even in the most emergency braking conditions.
Abs pump module
Each of today’s braking systems with the ABS system is equipped with a pump. This is an ABS pump, also called a modulator, and its basic role is to efficiently adjust pressure in the braking system during emergency braking. The entire system consists of many elements, which include an ABS pump controller, speed sensors placed on each of the wheels, solenoid valves and obviously a braking pump and a system of hydraulic hoses. Because of the fact that the above mentioned modulator or ABS pump cannot be disassembled, in the event of a failure or defect of any of their elements it is necessary to replace the entire component, which should be purchased at a professional service workshop offering car parts of high quality. The purchased component should be assembled at a renowned car workshop. Adherence to this procedure on our part guarantees a properly performed repair.
