The ABS system has been increasing our comfort and driving safety since the mid-1960s. It was designed by Dunlop and introduced for the first time on the Jensen FF. The system is designed to prevent the wheels from locking during sudden braking. Thanks to this, the risk of skidding is reduced, which is especially important in difficult weather conditions.
ABS controller
The heart of the whole system is the ABS controller. Sensors located in various places collect data on an ongoing basis and send it to the controller. Here, the information is carefully analyzed. When a threat is detected, the controller takes control of the solenoid valves regulating the fluid pressure in the brake system. The operation is very simple. The system simulates impulsive braking, thus preventing the wheels from locking and skidding. ABS is especially useful in winter when driving on snowy and icy roads.
From time to time, it is worth deciding to have the ABS system checked. As a result of many years of operation, the ABS controller may simply fail. Then it will incorrectly process data from sensors or it will be completely turned off, which will deprive us of an important element of equipment that increases driving safety. In such cases, the ABS controller must be replaced. In order to avoid additional costs, you can buy a used, working part.
