Dacia ABS pump – tested and original parts
Dacia vehicles, such as the popular Duster, city-friendly Sandero, practical Logan and family-oriented Jogger, have gained their reputation thanks to reliability, simple construction and excellent value for money. Based on proven Renault Group technology, Dacia offers solid and practical solutions. However, as in any vehicle, brake system components can wear out over time.
One of the most important systems responsible for road safety is the anti-lock braking system. Its key component is the ABS pump, often integrated with the ESP/ESC control module. When this part fails, braking distance in difficult conditions may increase and the vehicle can lose stability. In this category, you will find a wide selection of original, carefully tested ABS pumps for the most popular Dacia models.
Common symptoms of a faulty Dacia ABS pump
The electronic systems in Dacia vehicles are simple but effective. They usually inform the driver quickly when something is wrong with the braking system. The most common signs of ABS pump failure include:
-
Warning lights on the dashboard: The orange ABS warning light stays on permanently. In models equipped with stability control, it may also appear together with the ESP/ESC warning light and sometimes the red brake system warning light.
-
Wheels locking on slippery roads: During sudden braking, you do not feel the typical pulsation of the brake pedal. The wheels lock, and the car starts to slide.
-
Abnormal brake pedal feel: Internal valve faults in the hydraulic block can make the brake pedal feel unusually hard or, more dangerously, cause it to sink too far.
-
Diagnostic fault codes: After connecting a diagnostic tester, the mechanic may see errors related to the pump motor, solenoid valve failure or a complete lack of communication with the ABS control module.
Why does the ABS pump fail?
Dacia vehicles are usually equipped with components from well-known manufacturers such as Bosch or ATE / Continental. Despite their good quality, the most common causes of failure are:
-
Old brake fluid: This is one of the most common causes. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. If it is not replaced regularly, moisture can cause corrosion of the small precision valves inside the aluminium hydraulic block.
-
Worn pump motor: The electric motor that drives the ABS pump has brushes, which naturally wear out after high mileage, often around 150,000–200,000 km.
-
Electronic module failure: Shocks, vibration and moisture under the bonnet can lead to cracked solder joints or damage to the electronic circuits inside the ABS control module.
Original used ABS pump – why is it worth choosing?
A new ABS pump from an authorised dealer can cost several thousand złoty, which often makes little economic sense for older Dacia models, such as the first-generation Logan or Sandero. Cheap aftermarket replacements also do not always provide the right level of safety and reliability.
The best solution is to choose an original used ABS pump. At Auto24Parts, every part is carefully checked and comes from legal vehicle dismantling. By ordering an ABS unit with exactly the same numbers as your faulty original part, you get the best chance of full compatibility and safe operation.
ABS pumps for other car brands
If you also own or service vehicles from other manufacturers, you can check our range of ABS pumps and brake control modules for cars from many different brands. We offer original parts for:
-
Honda ABS pump – reliable ABS and VSA modules for Japanese vehicles.
-
Mitsubishi ABS pump – solid ABS units for 4WD vehicles and advanced traction control systems.
-
Mini ABS pump – precise brake support systems for the characteristic handling of Mini cars.
-

FAQ – Dacia ABS pumps
1. The ABS light is on in my Dacia Duster. Does this always mean the pump must be replaced?
No. Although ABS pump failure is possible, in Dacia vehicles, especially those used on rough roads, the fault is often caused by a damaged wheel speed sensor, a broken wire or a cracked ABS magnetic ring. Always start with a full diagnostic check before replacing expensive parts.
2. How do I choose the correct used ABS pump for a Dacia Sandero or Logan?
The only reliable way is to read the part numbers from your original ABS pump. You can usually find them on a paper or foil label on the black control module housing and often also engraved on the aluminium hydraulic block. The replacement pump should have the same part number, for example a Bosch or ATE number, and the same Renault / Dacia homologation number.
3. Does a Dacia ABS pump need programming after installation?
In older and simpler Dacia models, such as early Logan versions without ESP, replacing the pump can often be a Plug & Play job after proper brake bleeding, sometimes with a diagnostic tool to open the valves. In newer models with ESC/ESP, a diagnostic tester may be required to adapt the steering angle sensor and code the module so that the dashboard warning lights go off completely.
